WHAT'S MY CATEGORY AND CLASS?
Every car competing in the VSSC has to be classified by Category and Class, on
the Entry Form, by the Competitor. The responsibility for the correct
classification of the vehicle entered, rests with the Competitor. You
need to know the Category and Class of your vehicle before you can complete
the Entry Form.
Here are a few things you need to know
- A summary of the Categories and Classes is
shown in the table below, BUT ...
- you need to read the 'Technical
Regulations' BEFORE you can determine your Category, you can access
the Technical Regulations by 'clicking' on the 'Entry Form & Regulations'
tab on the left.
- Category 1 permits some freedoms for
Standard Road Cars, and
- Category 2 permits more.
- Category 3 enables a car derived from a
production car to be modified to the level of a sports sedan.
- Category 4, is for 'Clubman Style Cars',
BUT you will need to read the definition of a 'Clubman' style car to see
if yours fits in.
- If your car doesn't fit into Categories 1,
2, 3 or 4 then it will surely fit in Category 5.
- Each Category has its own particular
capacity classes.
- If your car has forced induction then you
will have to apply a 'multiplication factor' to the engine capacity or
swept volume to get the correct capacity class for your vehicle.
These multiplication factors can be found in the Technical Regulations.
